Razia Jan, the woman who made a difference in the lives of thousands of young Afghan girls by helping them get an education in a country where they may be attacked or targeted for the simple act of learning, has died at 81. Jan, an Afghan-born U.S. citizen, put her seamstress skills to good use after the 9/11 attacks, stitching portraits of fallen first responders, making blankets for Ground Zero workers and sending care packages to troops in Afghanistan. For Sunday TODAY, NBC’s Joe Fryer remembers a life well lived.Aug. 17, 2025
