Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

James Cameron’s epic sci-fi and fantasy franchise “Avatar” continues with its third installment “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

Audiences head back to Pandora as Marine-turned-Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), along with their family, encounter and fight against a new and aggressive Na’vi tribe.

“Fire and Ash” comes after 2009’s “Avatar” and 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which introduced the aquatic Metkayina tribe and the Tulkun, the large whale-like species that is native to Pandora’s oceans.

The third film finds Jake, Neytiri and their kids still grieving from the death of their son and brother Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), who was shot while trying to save his younger brother Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) and Miles “Spider” Socorro (Jack Champion) from the Resources Development Administration, aka the RDA, in the second film.

Now, trying to find peace, the Na’vi are once again under attack from the humans and Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who enlists the vengeful Mangkwan clan, also known as the Ash People, to capture Sully and Quaritch’s son Spider. The Ash People are led by their evil leader Varang (Oona Chaplin).

So as the war wages on, here is what happens at the end of “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

What Happens at the End of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'?

Throughout the film, Kiri (Sigourney Weaver) has been exploring her power and attempting to connect with the spirit world and Pandora’s deity, Eywa.

The humans and Quaritch are also on the hunt for Jake, who eventually surrenders to them when his family is in danger and after they have captured Spider. Scientists want to use Spider after he acquires an ability to breathe on Pandora without an oxygen mask, thanks to the mycelium that has invaded his body when Kiri tried to save his life.

An injured, healing and angry Neytiri infiltrates the RDA’s facilities to rescue Jake. She is successful thanks to the help of Spider, who broke out of his cell, and marine biologist Dr. Ian Garvin (Jemaine Clement), who is against the humans killing Tulkun.

Meanwhile, the RDA has big plans to kill dozens of Tulkun, whose brains carry amrita, a substance that stops humans from aging. After meeting the Ash People earlier in the film, Quaritch goes to Varang to ask for help in defeating Jake and the other Na’vi in exchange for firearms and machinery. The Ash People come in handy when the big war rages.

When they get back to the Metkayina clan, Jake rallies up as many Na’vi to fight and save their people and all the innocent Tulkun. In the process, many get injured and Jake and Neytiri’s children — Lo’ak, Kirk, Tuk (Trinity Jo-Li Bliss) — as well as Spider, take matters into their own hands.

During the fight, pregnant Ronal (Kate Winslet) dies, but not before delivering her baby and asking Neytiri to take care of her baby girl.

Kiri, with the help of Spider and Tuk, successfully gets Eywa to help and fight against the RDA. Other casualties include Scoresby (Brendan Cowell), who is killed by a Tulkun, and General Ardmore (Edie Falco).

Jake — who has been fighting alongside the Great Leonopteryx, the dragon-like warrior — then gets into a one-on-one battle with Quaritch on the floating islands. At one point, Spider is thrown into the middle of their fight. He slips and is at risk of falling to his death. Quaritch attempts to save him but also puts himself in danger — and Jake helps save them both. The encounter seems to draw them all to a truce.

When Neytiri, her children and Tsireya (Bailey Bass) arrive to help defeat Quaritch, Jake tells them to stop. However, Quaritch jumps off the floating island and into an inferno below. It sure doesn’t seem like he’d survive that, but “Avatar” fans know that guy has a thousand lives.

As the movie comes to an end, one of the final scenes shows Kiri guiding Spider into the spirit world where they reunite with Neteyam, as well as Dr. Grace Augustine (Weaver), Kiri’s biological mother.

No, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” does not have a post-credits scene. Neither 2009’s “Avatar” or 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” had post-credit scenes and the third film follows that same lead.
